DIY Sunshine Basket

IMG_5524Do you know someone who needs a little extra sunshine in their lives? I certainly do…we all need a little “pick-me-up” every now and then! Today I’m sharing a fun DIY that can hopefully bring some sunshine to brighten someones day!

This “DIY Sunshine Basket” is a thoughtful, cost-effective gift for a friend who just needs a little something special to brighten up their day.

Items needed for a Sunshine Basket:

Basket or box to hold items
Color coordinated snacks and candy
One or two larger fillers (think mug, small framed print, etc)
“Personal care” items like chapstick, lotion, hand sanitizer, nail polish, etc
Note cards, note pads, pens
Mints or gum
Color coordinated tissue paper/filler

Since the theme is “sunshine” I went with a bright pink and yellow color scheme. If you want to see a beautiful mono-color basket, head over to Melly Moments and check out her Box Full of Sunshine – it is super cute!

I hit up Dollar General and Target (love their dollar spot!) to find my supplies…here is what I purchased to make two baskets:

KIND bars – Target
3-pack of hand sanitizer (1 in each basket) – Dollar General
Stationary set – Target Dollar Spot
Blank note cards – Target Dollar Spot
Yellow mug – Dollar General
Starburst (Juicy Reds) – Dollar General
Hand lotion – Target
Chapstick – Target
Basket – Dollar General
Little Bit of Sunshine printable – DIY
Yellow Tissue paper – Target

KIND bars that coordinated with my pink and yellow “sunshine theme” – I bought a 5 count box  – 2 went into each basket and one went into my mouth! The Brookside bar just sounded yummy…and it was on clearance for $1.29. One for each basket, and one for me!

I was SO excited to find yellow EOS lip balm – this was my “splurge” for these baskets. And the Jergens came from the travel section of Target, for $1

The “Sunshine” print was made on picMonkey – I looked a few ideas on Pinterst and came up with something simple to print and attach to the basket.
